Marywood Gala
The evening of Friday, June 3, the Marywood community gathered with friends and benefactors for a
celebration of our facility’s 25th anniversary. There in Laurel Manor, faces from the past mixed
with current Staff, Family, Board, and Administration members, as well as a sizable contingent of
Felician Sisters, Livonia's mayor, Dennis Wright, and other dignitaries.
Before dinner, those assembled heard remarks from John Landis, who is stepping down after 25 years
as Board Chairman. Landis extolled the missions and values of the Felicians as demonstrated by the
service Marywood renders and affirmed the commitment to continue. John proudly noted the way
Marywood’s Staff treats Residents like Family, and presented the Employee Excellence Award to
Heather Lilac, RN, for exemplifying Felician values each day.
As Administrator John Mimnaugh spoke about Mr. Landis's tenure as Chairman, he expressed gratitude
-- his and that of others who have benefited greatly from Landis’s advocacy and ambassadorship for
Marywood. In recognition of our Chairman's many contributions, Marywood installed a bench in the
North Courtyard, with the inscription, “In honor of John Landis, 25 years of service, 1991 –
2016.”
Dinner was, at last, served; attendees enjoyed steak and chicken breast with potatoes and green
beans. After the luscious meal, the 25th Anniversary Raffle drawing was held, with winner Mary
Majcher taking home a $500 gift card. The crowd then danced away the night to music from the very
accomplished band, “Intrigue.”
We thank our sponsors and other benefactors, Family and Staff members, and all who helped make the
night a success. We are grateful to have helped those in need for 25 years and promise to carry on
the good work of service begun by the Felician Sisters.
